Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Training and Medical Surveillance

The purpose of the Animal Exposure Surveillance Program (AESP) is to provide:

  • Relevant occupational health and safety information related to use and care of animals
  • Occupationally indicated immunizations
  • Clinical evaluation and treatment for individuals with animal related injuries or illnesses

The IACUC requires that individuals listed on protocols complete the training and medical surveillance requirements of the Environmental Health and Safety Department, including enrollment in the University’s medical surveillance program for animal users (known as the Animal Exposure Surveillance Program) and the completion of training sessions that are dependent on the hazards involved with each particular study.
